Presentation is key as they say, this is especially true when it comes to selling your property. With almost all potential purchasers looking online for their next property, ensuring yours stands out is a key part of securing a sale.

As previously mentioned, it goes without saying that your home should be clean and tidy for photos, but what else can you do to ensure it stands out amongst others in the digital crowd? Our advice would be to take a step back and think about how you can present your property in the best light. Start by imagining you are the photographer, take some time to stand where they would stand to capture a room in its best light, often this is the doorway or a corner facing out to capture the best angle.

Once you have an idea of how your room might be photographed, think about what you can do to maximise the impact of those photos. It is obvious that you should remove unnecessary clutter and day-to-day paraphernalia such as cleaning products, toothbrushes, pet beds and bowls but what can you add? Simple changes or additions can make a big impact, it isn’t necessary to spend a lot of money and often you can update the impact of a room using things you already have. If your budget allows, simple things such as a bunch of fresh flowers in a nice vase or a pot plant can go a long way. Flowers and plants are a versatile way to add interest and colour to a room, when picking them think about choosing varieties that complement and enhance your space or provide a pop of colour.

Light shades are also a simple and effective way to update a space, they can be picked up relatively inexpensively and can quickly add interest or update a room with minimal effort. Cushions and blankets are also great additions, you can use them on a sofa, draping blankets over the back or artfully arranging cushions to hide spills or tears. They can also be used in bedrooms, arranged on the bed or a chair making the room cosier and more welcoming. Pictures and photos will also help bring a bit of life to a room, many of us have a collection of them grouped together but you may find that removing one or two and placing them on a side table, in a bare corner or on a bare wall will make the space feel more homely. The same goes for knickknacks and ornaments, these can often be rearranged quickly and easily to give a room more balance or make it feel less cluttered.
